Library History

Created in 1969 by Laws of Florida, Chapter 69-835, the Bay County Law Library was established to provide “...a central law library for the use of county officials and the judges and officers of the several courts and the citizens of said county…”

 

Library Resources

The Bay County Law Library’s inventory includes Florida Statutes, United States Code,  state and federal law, treatises, procedural form books, practice guides, court rules, periodicals, and legal encyclopedias.  In addition to hard copies, the library has selected treatises on CD-Rom and an online subscription to Westlaw Patron Access® and to LexisNexis® Florida Litigation and Transactional forms. 

 

Library Services

The librarian may direct you to resources and instruct you in legal research methods.  On a limited basis, the librarian may facilitate in formulating queries and assist in computer searches. Computer usage is free; printing is $.25/page. The librarian is not authorized to answer legal questions, give legal advice, nor assist in preparing legal forms.  All legal forms are in sample formats; the library does not furnish blank forms to be filled out by litigants.   

Books are for reference usage only.  Photocopies are $0.25/copy.
